| Why I'm Vegan |
| I’m vegetarian primarily for reasons of compassion, secondarily for environmental reasons, and only incidentally for health reasons. So I’m healthy by accident. I also believe the meat industry is cruel and dehumanizing to its laborers. *** I grew up on a mini-farm where we raised and slaughtered much of our own meat. It was not until my father decided to have one of our hogs professionally slaughertered that I first came to realize what suffering there was in my sausage. |

| What? No headline? Well, mine WOULD have been: {b}Scratch & Dent Special{/b}: some cosmetic damage in transit, but otherwise good. *** Hard to know what‘s important to include. I think I’m a pretty nice guy - wait, don’t rule me out yet! - who will care at least as much about you as about the bleeding crowd. I’m not particularly egotistical - despite every justification - and will encourage you in your own endeavors and accomplishments, not simply expect you to support mine. I’m liberal, but not knee-jerk, an environmentalist, love nature (apparently there are those who don’t), am involved in animal welfare and animal rights, was involved in pirate radio for a while (as I believe the consolidation of media in the hands of the wealthy few threatens our democracy), was once an artist but am now back in school learning a sensible trade, pretty good handyman (as an artist you have to be; can’t afford to hire repairmen), have done a bit of writing, have done quite a bit of community and volunteer work (of course, as a professional artist I often had time on my hands), lived in a tent for a summer doing peregrine recovery, have eclectic but selective musical tastes, have been active in sports (mostly martial arts) for years, though school and an injury have sidetracked me of late, meditate sporadically, have a good sense of humor, have broad interests and am fairly well read and culturally literate, am not religious though I have a sense of wonder, am impatient with mumbo jumbo not based on fact, and kids and animals like me. That’s enough, I guess, for one sentence. No doubt something else will occur to me. |

| I'm Looking For |
| I’ve yet to meet a Republican vegetarian, so THAT’s not going to be an issue. If you’ve signed up here there’s a good chance we’d get along and find something to talk about. In fact, the principles that made you a vegetarian are probably going to cover most of my qualifiers. I happen to find compassion very sexy. If you have an appreciation of classical music (among other types) and of ballet and a healthy interest in sound, scientific bases for your beliefs, that would be a plus. |
