Why I'm Vegetarian |
I have been vegetarian for most of my adult life. I've been vegan, raw vegan but now I eat eggs and dairy. It's most certainly a process. I wanted to stay raw vegan but I lost too much muscle mass, but I still gravitate towards raw. I have 3 kids who I don't eat like I do so eating as a family for now is a little complicated. I know everyone can relate to this. For example, I used to pick off the little bits of cheese off a salad, but now I am not that fanatical. There are nowadays much larger battles to fight. I don't tolerate wheat or quinoa, and a few other things, that complicates things a little. So, I used to make a fuss over trying to be 100% vegan, but now, if food has cheese, butter or eggs, its not my preference, but it disturbs the people around me too much to make a fuss over food. I have absolutes though... the soul of the dead animal disturbs me a lot and if someone puts bacon bits on a salad, I won't touch it, or fish oil or anything like that. Fish oil is dumb and krill oil is even dumber. I think once my kids are out of the house I can experiment with raw again. |

More About Me |
I like living at 5500 feet in the High Plains Desert, I see blue skies every day and it takes less than 10 minutes to get to work. I love my job and my kids have opportunities here. My kids are the most important people in my life. I am a health care professional. My kids are all teenagers, its hard to believe that my first is now going to college. The time we get to spend with our kids is short, and then they will hopefully help save their world. I work a lot, I have a few more years until I plan to retire, perhaps I won't ever retire. Within raising teenagers and working, it would be nice to meet someone who shares my values. I feel like politics has seeped into how others will identify another person. Without those labels, I describe myself as the universal mom. I want to rescue anything that is alive. I am offended by actions that deliberately and carelessly harm another living thing. If I were a super hero, I would be the Shield. I donate to charities that support that notion. I work out when I can, I think I'm pretty fit. I take care of myself too but sometimes I'm last on the list. In terms of religion, I used to attend the Catholic church all the time, I felt that was part of my identity. However, I think the universe, what we can see and what we can't see is much larger than that. So I don't identify with being Catholic anymore. Christianity is a tiny part of the truth. I listen to electronica, dance and rap. I dislike country and I am sick of the pop hits from the 70's 80's and 90's. Been there, done that, time to move on. Oh, one more thing. I am sometimes painfully shy meeting new people. Funny, since I talk to people all day. But breaking the ice is not my strong point. |

I'm Looking For |
In a way, if I met someone who likes to rescue animals, we would have 500 cats and dogs because there is no end to needs of others and the social injustices we see today. If in your heart you are a warrior for saving the planet and have a soft spot for even the most seemingly insignificant little living thing then that would soothe my soul. If you have a sense of humor then that's great too. Sometimes I feel a little too serious. If you like the outdoors, that's great because I like to pretty much anything outside. |
