| Why I'm Vegetarian |
| I can’t abide the thought of anyone dying due to my actions or inaction, including animals. I believe that our goal as a species should be to develop a civilization that attempts to preserve life. We are all interdependent beings, and we are dependent on each other and our actions directly or indirectly can hurt others. I think of animals more as distant cousins and not as lesser species. Animals are sentient beings that have the mental faculties to feel emotions, love, loss and pain. I became a vegetarian when I was about 13 years old, on principal, when I was inadvertently responsible for killing a squirrel. I remained vegetarian for a dozen years, until I became sick for several months. After that, it was difficult for me to regain the lifestyle in the company of nonbelievers. I returned to being a vegetarian at age 53 when I decided that I understood my health issues better and I was able to be more independent. I think that I always realized that I did not need to kill animals to survive. I believe that my diet is actually healthier for me. I am saddened by how the people in our society do not think these issues through and even more so when I realize they do not care. I believe that a vegetarian diet is healthier, more efficient, and more sustainable for our planet. And yes it is much kinder and more compassionate for the animals that share the planet with us. |

| More About Me |
| I think of myself as mature, thoughtful, caring, creative, tolerant, intellectual, independent, sometimes clever, and often eclectic in my interests and attitudes. I enjoy problem solving, nature, outdoor activities, pets, movies, computers, writing, oenology, a good drink, social interaction, small parties, and quiet nights by the fire. My outdoor activities include golfing, lawn care and gardening, camping, canoeing, and back packing although aging has caused me to limit these activities somewhat and seek more comfortable means of enjoying them. I am in the process of adopting a dog. I have three cats, one indoor cat becoming elderly like me, and two barn cats that moved in over the winter months. All of the cats that I have owned have been strays. I have been married twice (16 years and 15 years), but evidently not to the right woman. I hope eventually to try again and maybe next time it will work out better. I am enjoying my independence and living well. My religious beliefs are a bit unusual. I am a Natural Christian. This affects my whole viewpoint for the better. I have a naturalchristian.org website for anyone interested. My previous full time structural engineering job of almost five years finally came to an end in September of 2017, but I found an even better one and will continue until either they or I move on to something else. I am writing some whenever i am not overwhelmed by work. I hope to be able to publish my books sometime soon. I enjoy writing and I am currently writing something that I would classify fantasy/science fiction. I have many interests and think that I will always be working at something and I am sure that I will retire to my own interests. |

| I'm Looking For |
| I am looking for companionship first. It would be nice to have someone to go out to eat with or to movies with, but even better to go on walks with or to sit and talk with. I will hope to build the companionship into something more, hopefully a relationship with a life-long soul mate. I am still vital and interested in a full relationship. I see now that in the end my previous wives were too independent and not willing to help make our relationship devoted and intimate, as I would prefer. I think that perhaps I was a bit too reserved to move the relationship in the direction that I wanted. I think I would prefer a vegetarian over a vegan or other more strict diets, but anyone who can help me find love and passion in my life would be welcome, especially if they are caring and devoted. Hopefully I will finally find a soul-mate for the rest of my years. |
