Why I'm Vegetarian
I'm primarily a vegetarian for ethical reasons due to the suffering inflicted on animals in factory farm systems. I also believe that non-human animals have an intrinsic right to life and that we have no right to kill them for food except in a genuine survival situation. However, the other arguments for vegetarianism based on world hunger, health, and environmental impact are all equally compelling and more than enough reason to become vegetarian even if one did not care about animals. In fact, the only argument FOR eating meat that is unanswerable, in my opinion, is: "I really don't care" and I could never have a partner relationship with someone like that.

I'm Looking For
. . . my LAST partner relationship in this particular incarnation! I like strong, independent, intelligent women who march to their own drummer but also know how to walk in step with someone they love. I'm looking for someone bright, interesting, and unconventional, who communicates well and keeps herself in good shape physically, and who is warm and affectionate and capable of commitment and loyalty. She should be politically progressive, open-minded, and an outspoken opponent of racism, sexism, speciesism, and homophobia and who values a liberated male who considers himself a feminist. Someone who loves intense conversation, vigorous outdoor activities, world travel, literature, art, film, and music, and who is more spiritually inclined than religious, would be ideal. I would also prefer someone who has some form of active mindfulness practice and who knows what it means to witness her own "stuff." Someone who wants a conscious relationship with a partner where they are able to deal with issues and problems that come up in a loving, honest and non-reactive way. Finally, I should mention, because I don't want to waste anyone's time (or my own), that I am firmly rooted in Asheville, North Carolina, and am not open to relocation. Nor do I want to engage in an indefinitely protracted long-distance relationship that is more than, say, a couple of hours apart. So unless YOU are within that geographical range or are open to the possibility of relocation, and, more specifically, feel that Asheville is the kind of community you could be happy living in (if you search online there is a ton of information about Asheville available) then pursuing a relationship with each other would not be realistic. Just want to be honest about that from the get-go.
