| Why I'm Vegan |
| Several reasons. First, the environmental impact of the meat industry is huge. We're also creating antibiotic resistant bacteria by pumping animals full of drugs and letting the germs evolve resistance. I also think that factory farming is cruel, and I don't think animals should have to suffer for me to eat. The increased consumption of meat is driving up the price of basic grain commodities that poor people need to feed themselves. I know we evolved to like the taste of meat because for the first 2 million years or so of human evolution, food was scarce and if you could scavenge some meat, it helped you survive. Of course, it was also good for most of human evolution if your body was good at accumulating fat. Neither of these traits applies to our current society. |

| More About Me |
| I'm a single parent who loves the weekends when my 5 year old daughter stays with me. She is my top priority and I love doing things with her, whether it's baking cookies, building Legos, doing her homework, or eating cereal (with soy milk!) and watching Saturday morning cartoons. During the week, I have a long commute into NY where I work in the statistical modelling group at a bank. I enjoy some parts of my job, mostly those where I get to either do some interesting mathematics or work with some cool technology. I don't find the "finance" part so interesting, but all jobs have their good and bad sides. I don't have a lot of free time, but I like to read, try to get out to the gym, and enjoy catching an Eagles or Sixers game when I can. |
