I'm a consultant, Ph.D, researcher, entrepreneur, and musician. I'm no longer a kick-ass assassin. The insurance premiums nearly killed me.
I've had long-term relationships, but I've been mostly achievement-oriented for much of my life. I woke up one day and realized that I want more out of life, including romance.
This year is going to be interesting. I've worked for years as a self-employed organizational psychologist. Now I'm re-launching my consulting firm with a stronger focus on helping organizations (and the world) through positive psychology. And, after being a failed music major many years ago, I've also returned to writing and recording music.
"Whoa," she says. "You just got finished saying...". Yes, women tell me that they're not interested in me because I'm too motivated, with too many pursuits. Hopefully, you have your own mountains to climb. I can empathize, and be very supportive if you do. I'm drawn to strong, non-traditional, highly achievement-motivated women. A 'co-alpha' or 'co-dominant'.
Women tell me that my dating profiles are intimidating. Please don't think I’m too serious. I have a sense of humor, and I put work into making people laugh. What else can I say to appear less intimidating?
- I never learned to tie my shoes properly (double loop knot).
- My top strength from the VIA Survey of Character Strengths is humour and playfulness.
- Some past girlfriends were intimidated by me at first, as well, but quickly learned to laugh at me (not with me).
- I once almost broke my foot demonstrating the Three Stooges/Curly Howard floor spin.
- Despite my apparent intelligence, I sometimes do dumb things in front of people that leave them wondering if I actually do have a Ph.D.
- I don't drive. Never have.
Fun facts:
- I'm in the gym nearly every day.
- I collect guitars the way that some women collect shoes. I have 10 of them (guitars, not shoes). I recently took up drums.
- I've been hit by lightning.
- I was class clown.
- I own Hardy Boys books. I read them to wind down from stressful work (and to regress to childhood).
- I'm not outdoorsy. Day trips and hiking are fine. Maybe this will change for someone.
- I'm extremely ticklish. |
