| I became a vegetarian 48 years ago because I started having these experiences where whenever I would eat meat or fish, I would see the animal or fish in my minds eye, and the part of the animal or fish I was eating-- it just didn't feel good, right or necessary, so I became a vegetarian. 18 years ago I realized that I no longer felt comfortable eating chicken embryos (fertile or not). And when I learned that milk contains hormones intended for calfs (not humans), antibiotics given to cows, and pus that the cow's inflammatory immune cells produce, I no longer felt comfortable eating milk, cheese, butter, etc. I also did not like the inhumane way cows and chickens were treated. A vegan diet was the intuitive and logical choice. Spiritually and psychically I feel much better on a plant-based diet. People frequently comment on how I look so much younger than my chronological age, and I attribute this to clean diet, healthy living, meditation and yoga. |
