| Why I'm Vegetarian |
| If you're wondering why you are here, here's my take: The purpose of life is to achieve Truth(Yoga)& liberate ourselves from matter to become immortal in Spirit. As we enter the human kingdom from the animal, we retain animal qualities-aggression, lust, violence, sense passions..here we love meat, alcohol, indulgence & all things material. We are bound by matter & senses. After a few lives(or years), we realise that matter(and our body) is an illusion(so is the thought that we have only One life)& that desires are unlimited & can never be fulfilled by pandering to them. At this stage, what attracted us earlier(indulgence), disgusts us. We thus progress towards Spirit(Light/Non-matter), getting attracted to Virtue, Vegetarianism, Yoga, Harmlessness, Cleanliness & the Truth ,as part of being civilised/evolved. But at the same time, we have new entrants from the animal kingdom who love sense indulgence. So we have souls evolving in different stages, but ALL heading towards the same goal.We see the same Light in All,inspite of external diversity. The ones indulging in the senses now,will become vegetarians later. So vegetarians are the elder brothers of humanity,with a duty to inspire others to follow suit,like the yogi Gurus of India.So Vegetarian, peace, giving, Sacrifice, Cleanliness, Monogamy-family, Tolerance,Spirit, Forgiveness..belong to the ascending Solar liberating path towards Light while meat, matter, body, Sense indulgence, receiving, competition/conflict, violence, right wing nationalism...belong to the descending Lunar circular(recurring)path towards matter & darkness. The choice is ours & we make our choices according to our stage of evolution. If you are on this site, chances are that, as vegetarians,we tend to think alike:-)I am a vegetarian because 1.I am born a Hindu in India 2.I practise Ayurveda and Yoga, both of which say Vegetarianism is ideal 3.I like animals and all of Creation. I believe all life is Sacred 4.I dont like violence/vices/addictions 5.I believe in a Higher power |

| I am an Indian researcher of Sustainability, currently in Ethiopia working in a University for a World Bank teaching project,after finishing my double masters in Geo-Informatics and Sustainable Natural Resource Management from Technical University München and Stuttgart in Germany.Future plans: Get back to Germany/USA/India for my PhD in Sustainability, Write THE book on Yoga, Go entrepreneurial with a startup company applying Yoga and sustainability to business processes. | This is like making a list for Santa Claus fully knowing that you will not get all you asked for.But hope sustains life and here goes:- Am looking for a non-materialistic person with Simple Living habits(Sattvic)and High Thinking.Having respect for human values with a honest approach to life.Too idealistic and dreamy?Ok then,some oddities and a few eccentricities,warts and all, are welcome.Should be able to work with a computer without destroying it.Should be a great cook and if not, should be able to pretend that I am one.Should be compassionate to children,old people,animals, plants and lastly me.Should have an ear for music so that she will be able to understand what I am mad about.Should have a healthy lifestyle and not be a couch potato.Should be able to cry and not be hard-hearted.Should be spiritual in outlook with a firm,practical head on the shoulders.Must be able to stand up and defend values without compromising them.Lastly, a great smile to make my day and die for! |
