| Meeting Naturally I consider a dating site to be one of the worst ways in which to meet someone. I don’t even like dating. I suspect that most people are rarely ‘themselves’ in such scenarios, because the focus is directly on one another. I like to meet people through working on projects together and naturally getting to know one another by chance. Organically one experiences the other in a variety of situations, and learns over time, about the character of the other. One gradually comes to trust them, know them and love them. This, to me, is the ideal way to meet someone, fall in love, and realise that you wish to share life together. A Contradiction Yet here I am posting a profile on a dating website, because I have to admit, that I love the idea of meeting someone with whom it simply ‘makes sense’ to share life with. Someone who values the same things as me and whose company I delight in. Someone who makes me forget myself by filling me with such gratitude for who they are that I want to give to them in every way that I can. Someone with whom to build history, face challenges, learn and grow, achieve goals, and just ‘be’. Relationship Type Maybe there is a gentleman using this site who also prefers to meet people and get to know them by being brought together through a common goal, as if by chance. I believe in starting as I mean to go on, and so I am not looking for someone to take me out to dinner and a movie, not that I rule out enjoying these activities once in a while. However, in terms of what a relationship is based on, its substance, I am open to meeting someone who would like to work no some of the same kinds of projects as I do. Someone who has a strong drive to succeed with their goals. Someone with whom I can work together in making a difference to the world. Who I Am I am a vegan musician who is apprenticing as a sound engineering, and intend to use music as a way to communicate a message of compassion for all sentient beings and respect for planet, as well as believing in and achieving their dreams and goals. I enjoy keeping fit, a healthy lifestyle, and have just started to learn about web development. Whilst I can be confident, bubbly and outgoing, I see myself as being over 50% introverted because I often enjoy to being subtle and quiet, and relish peaceful environments, and deep conversations with transparent communication. | A Definition of Loving Wholly & Completely A friend recently mentioned the idea of loving someone wholly and completely. I asked them what this meant and was deeply touched by their response, as they went straight to the core of what i knew in my heart, but hadn’t quite formed into words yet. They described it as someone who makes you feel safe, listens to you, encourages you, does not discourage, doesn’t tear down ideas, rather, if you express a bad idea, perhaps they just don’t say anything, but they don’t let you go off and do stupid things either, rather, they are a sounding board and ask relevant questions such as, have you thought about [insert relevant point]? builds you up, nudges you in directions that they think are good for you, and who, when they look at you, every day is a good day. REALationship My friend reflected further on how these are the things that real relationships are built on, and in addition to the above, how these things take time through sharing experiences and being able to look back and remember things together. The man who is right for me knows the difference between superficial and real substance in a relationship. But I realise that is not something that I can seek and find. Rather, I can only be authentic by living in alignment with my values and following my goals, being the best that I can. Then, if we should happen to meet, we would recognise one another, and naturally a connection would be made. It wouldn’t feel contrived, rather it would feel natural. And it would simply make sense to be together. You When reading your response I feel that you have thoroughly read, and understood what I have written, or you have asked for clarification or elaboration on those areas that you were unsure or curious about. Your reflections and questions show me that you are a deep thinker. Your intentions for a relationship and your lifestyle are compatible with mine. What I have written is congruent with how you see the world and how you act. You value the same things as I do, and your goals and interests mean that we would have the option of working together on projects together at various times, if we so chose.
