| Why I'm Vegetarian |
| Have been vegetarian for over 35 years. I do eat some dairy but not eggs, however have for long periods abstained from dairy. I fist became vegetarian after reading a book on Buddhism as a 9 year old. This only lasted for a few months. Then I became vegetarian again after a school trip to an abattoir, this lasted for a couple of years. Then one day I was in a supermarket where the meat was all wrapped in plastic on little white trays. The butcher then brought in a carcass of a pig. It hit me. How disconnected from the reality of eating meat I had become. I knew I couldn't kill an animal to feed myself. I then decided that it was unethical for me to allow someone else to do for me, that which I would find repugnant. I have been vegetarian ever since. |

| I keep the child inside me as much as I can. I want to find wonder in small things. I am politically to the left and more philosophical than spiritual. I have a quirky sence of humour. Sometimes laugh at inappropriate moments. Very much a child of 80's alternative music from Ska, Goth, Industrial to Metal. Not a fan of top 40 pop. Love a good read. History, Science fiction and Auto biographies. |
