Why I'm Vegan |
I first became Vegan in 1999, for a girl, and though she was gone 6 months later, I was Vegan until 2003. I stopped being Vegan because I got really sick and was horribly malnourished, gaining a ton of weight. I was introduced to really bad junk food Veganism and didn’t know any better. In 2009 I had a medical emergency, my weight was at an all time high, and I did a lot more research and plunged back in, lost a ton of weight, got healthy, traveled the world. I was vegan again until 2018. Another health crisis (related to developing a rare disease—polymyositis) following a vagus nerve injury. Doctors tried to get me eating meat again saying my vegan diet caused the disease. I was Seagan and then Vegetarian, up until the last two months where, now having gained all my weight back, I decided to find a vegan nutritionist, vegan therapist, and find a vegan way to treat this sickness, which is totally working now. I eat 80% Plant Based and 20% Vegan. I am also a vegan for the animals. I’ve been a supporter of Farm Sanctuary for the last 12 years, I donate a lot of money to animal rights, and I teach Veganism and animal rights in all my classes. I shop with vegan awareness for the treatment of animals. I started off about a girl, then my health, then my health again, but it was always about the animals and their lives as well |

More About Me |
I am a College and University Professor in the Boston area. As a Part Time Faculty I hustle like crazy to teach 7-8 classes per semester across 3 schools, three classes in the summer. I teach classes in Literature, Religion, Philosophy, and the dreaded College Writing. I have my BA from USM in History and Philosophy, my MA from Yale in Religion and Literature, spent three years fumbling through (and dropping out of) a PhD in Philosophy before getting my MFA in Creative Writing. I might be getting my PhD in Gothic Literature, summer option, next year. I just got separated. It sucks. My wife was vegan up until the last year when she became pescatarian (I think I would have gone back sooner if it wasn’t for her. It’s a very peaceful breakup. I love 80’s-90’s Alternative, Classic Rock, Blues, Blues Rock, Post Punk, Jazz (on weekends), deep respect for Classical, and I like the modern version of Bluegrass and Americana. I am a GREAT a chef. I am that person who is the best chef anyone knows. I’m from a long line of famous Italian chefs, and I do make studying Italian cooking a very serious thing. I can also do Southern (I once lived in North Carolina) really well. I love to cook for people, especially my partner. I’m a relationship guy not a “I have to hang with my bros “ kind of guy. In a relationship, I want my partner to be my best friend and I tend to throw my life into them and around them. Maybe that’s the Italian romantic thing in me. I have a long background in Yoga, though I stopped in 2018, and have just returned. I also have a very developed Taijiquann practice that I’ve also started to reclaim more these days. Other than that, I like to take long walks. My favorite literature is the Southern Gothic, Fiction that utilizes Jewish or Islamic Mysticism themes, Esoteric Literature. I am a super liberal, tending toward Democratic Socialist. I don’t do drugs, I’m a very light and infrequent drinker, and I have a lot of tattoos (hope you like Ganesha). I am way too over-educated, deeply philosophical, frequently mystical, with a dark sense of humor an a bit of a pragmatic USM meets existentialism meets phenomenology view of life. |
