I have been a vegetarian (vegan for the last 2) for 27 years. But I need friends who think and live similarly. And I would like an adult friend to meet for dinner or civic event, or even to travel the world! Let's see where it goes.
One son is at Arizona State University. The last kiddo is a sophomore in high school. Big guy. Great kid. I also have two grown children and a son in law. All five are very accomplished and make me proud. I have lots of pets too! I love my work, but I try to stay fit. I cycle and strength train. I love to travel (I have pass privileges on a major airline) and often visit California, Florida, New York, and much of the rest of the United States and the world. I am interested in people and places.
By the way, I am a Christian and I am highly spiritual. One can be both. If you want to change my faith beliefs to match yours, then I am probably not your guy. You do what you do and we do what we do. I am fine with differences. Let's respect where we both are after experiencing so much of this life. And...I love animals, and that is the reason I am vegan. I am not attached to every one of the assortment of causes. I respect everyone. If you are a professional activist, know that I will consider every aspect of your argument ever so carefully. I am not a Trump supporter. I am concerned about the climate crisis. What makes me laugh are the antics of baby animals. I have a small dog I adopted from Seattle Humane. He is a senior but still has a sense of fun. We go for walks twice a day. I love the ocean and lakes, but the ocean is a special place for me. I also love the mountains, the trees, and forest trails to go for walks on. I enjoy reading, movies, and plays. I belong to a group that brings musical performances to our community. I also belong to a book club.

I live with 2 dogs, for whom I try to provide as happy and healthy environment as is possible in this human-centered society.
I have been a long-time student of relationships, which baffle and fill my mind with wonder, all at the same time. I know that aspects, that we are fully conscious of, AND less conscious of are important when creating a relationship: the obvious wants, AND the ones that aren't so obvious, but feel very good when they're there, such as acceptance, positive regard, and passion.
I like to be active, and I am both "a few extra pounds" and "athletic." I've been doing an increasing amount of yoga; so far, my favorite is hot Vinyasa Yoga.
I have been blown away (in a really great way) listening to Eckhart Tolle.
I think I have a great sense of humor, but that's hard to express in words, and humor seems pretty subjective. I simply find a lot of things very funny.
During my life I've nurtured both human and non-human children; I've been a nanny to many children, and a friend/guardian to many non-humans. I love being around both.
I work as a home hospice nurse, which is an excellent outlet for providing compassion; I enjoy that home hospice includes physiology/microbiology/anatomy, psychology, spirituality, creativity, sociology, education, and yes, love. I'm also interested in actual health (vs. Western medicine as it stands).
I feel that I thoroughly explored career opportunities before becoming a nurse: a nanny, pre-school teacher's aid, tofu-maker, undercover agent, waitress, dance and aerobic instructor (as well as full-time dance student), secretary, hospital/ED unit assistant, receptionist, and salesperson. I like being a nurse because I continually LEARN, and there are many opportunities to assist others to learn (when they want to, that is!).
I've been relatively adventurous in my life, starting with childhood, growing up with an adventurous parent! Then, in teenage-hood, I took some solo bicycle adventures. It's continued into "adult-hood" with a nice swim adventure, and attempting motorcycling as transportation(ended abruptly with a fractured leg).

I'm currently an academic studying ethics, emotions, and the environment. I won't solve global warming or world hunger, but if I'm lucky I'll improve the lives of a few people and contribute to SCIENCE™. Personality wise, my friends/therapist would describe me as friendly, open-minded, loving, and a mix of cerebral and emotional. Some things that matter to me are:
-Social connection and relationships: I love hanging with friends, and have a soft spot for those all-nighters of laughing, problem-solving, and story-telling with your closest pals. I'm also close with my family and like a good family tradition (even if it's a little corny).
-Sports and fitness: I am active, play several sports competitively, and believe that I could be a world-class spikeball player with enough practice (I was a two-time foursquare champ in high school--I'm good at sports that require me to slap at round objects 👋🏼🍑😈).
-Food: I live to eat, more so than eat to live, but I am not a "foodie." I'm known to host creative dinner parties, but also love having a TV dinner of dino nuggets and roasted broccoli.
-Nature: I like being in nature (e.g., hiking; snorkeling), learning about nature (e.g., anything David Attenborough or Bill Bryson), and protecting nature (e.g., veganism!)
-Travel and adventure: I'm invigorated by exploring, whether it's a new country across the globe or a hidden side street in my neighborhood I've yet to walk down. Still, I also like having a home-base and my comforts (I'll say it again: dino nuggets!).
-Learning and truth-seeking: I love learning. It's one reason I spent way too long in school, am a career scientist/researcher, and have a weird-ass Wikipedia search history. I'm even more motivated by truth, and strive to be rational, honest, and open-minded. Lately, this has also included more learning about myself and cultivating self-awareness.
-Writing and music: I'm lumping these together, because I'm not good enough at either for them to warrant their own bullet points. I have written songs on behalf of friends' milestones and blogposts about sports. I've also dabbled in electronic music and trumpet, but generally prefer to appreciate the musical gifts of others.
-Ethics: I care deeply about figuring out how to best do right by my friends/family/partner/community/all sentient beings across time and space, and putting those beliefs into action. It's a lifelong project, and I tend to find it more interesting than exhausting!

I was a teacher, being ritired since long time. I have children: A daughter is married, no longer a strict vegetarian, has a daughter herself and lives near to my home, a son living 300 km away, not married, still strict vegetarian. I'm living in a house with garden, love gardening pretty much. My garden looks a little bit wilderness. The home too, needs a little female touch or at least inspiration after a long time!
