Well-rounded, eclectic and baggage-free describes me well. At any point I have several projects on the go requiring a wide range of skills and aptitudes. I was originally, and still am, qualified as an accountant although, apart from a pro-bono audit of a little Buddhist charity every year, I have not regularly done any accounting for quite some time.
The daily yoga and meditation I practise and everything else I do are spontaneously guided and effortless. Yoga has given me a strong and supple body with a spirit to match that belie my age.
Friends sometimes describe me as slightly eccentric which is taken as a compliment....but I'm not sure that's entirely correct. Certainly I'm healthily unpredictable, acutely intuitive, sometimes non-conformist in a conservative way and a little Machiavellian. On balance I'm probably intellectual with a dry philosophical sense of humour that is never at anyone else's expense. I can be chatty and cheerful while at other times intense and focused.
I prefer intimate one-on-one situations and steer clear of noisy places and crowds. Simple pursuits are more to my liking. I am dedicated to the people around me including allowing them space where space is needed.
I've described myself as a non-drinker as one alcoholic drink per month is about the limit of my enjoyment in that regard....call that what you will.
My style is relaxed and informal and my timeless spirit always shines through. Compliments from women about my eyes and my smile are not uncommon.

I’m a retired college professor, artist, and author looking for a compatible travel companion. I enjoyed 30 wonderful years with my wife who passed from cancer in 2019. Before she passed, she encouraged me to find a vegan travel partner. I've found fulfilling relationships, but still looking for a suitable travel partner.
I love gardening, writing, massage, cooking, and travel. Some of my favorite outings include gardens (especially in Maui!), live theater, theme parks, museums, and art shows. My mornings start out with some meditation, breathing exercises, Qi Gong, then a workout. I love creating things, whether it be digital or something eye-catching for the garden. I have a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics and one in Educational Technology. I fully retired from teaching in 2020. I’m the author of 12 books and manuals, mostly on computer-related topics.
I spend a lot of my time in the garden when not out and about. It's a tranquil retreat with plenty of fruit trees, garden beds, and a hydroponic tower. There is also a tea house, a flowing stream, and plenty of seating areas.
I am passionate about promoting a plant-strong lifestyle through writing, hosting pot lucks, and networking. I discovered this way of eating in 2012, and it has given me a new lease on my health. I believe strongly that our society needs to move in that direction if we are to cure our chronic diseases, protect our environment, and reduce animal suffering.
Now that Covid has eased up, I’m looking forward to finding a compatible traveling companion with similar eating style.

I have come to realize that here in America, we generally live a much "faster paced" life with less traditions than some of the other cultures I have visited.
Other interests include outdoor interests including hiking, mountain biking, rollerblading, kneeboarding, snow skiing, rock climbing.. I also enjoy researching and learning about subjects that interest me. Im like a sponge and like to soak up information.
Im into reading and self-improvement. Im currently into Gardening and growing my own fruit and vegetables and wild edibles. Ever taste fresh Tamarillo or Magenta Lambs Quarter or Stevia? Delicious! Many times im quiet and just listening and learning.. unless you get me talking about something I know about.
I am a fix-it-guy, I have worked on remodeling/construction/cars/ electronical items, a tinkerer at heart.

Eat slowly and mindfully, savoring every morsel. You'll enjoy it more, and how much you eat may be just as important as what you eat.
Living a principled life of meaning, purpose, simplicity, and growth is my goal. Originally from New Jersey, I went to college (Pomona) and beyond in southern California but have spent most of my adult life in southern Arizona. I find the Sonoran Desert to be magical, and I hike a lot, but you can see beauty in most places if your mind is open to it. The beauty of any place, though, derives mainly from the people who populate it. Character traits I value include "compassion and altruism, placidness, patience, and slowness to anger, and abundant loving-kindness and truthfulness" (Exodus 34:6), as well as reverence for all life. The latter includes wearing a mask, to protect both others and myself, during the pandemic! Practical examples of these traits include: being mindful of the needs of the disabled and the vulnerable; uplifting others and taking care not to hurt their feelings; and giving people the benefit of the doubt. I look for ways to help others, but, whatever I do, I try to avoid self-serving feelings like self-validation and pride.
With my scientific background, I'm mostly a left-brained person, but I try to exercise the right half as well, although I fall a little short of being a polymath. I appreciate the contribution of art to life and especially the creativity behind it, although I like to view it not just for its aesthetic beauty but also as an extension of the person behind it. I'm informed and guided in all aspects of living by Jewish ethical values and teachings, including that we can learn from everyone (although I shun religious infrastructure that is hypocritical)! I've been vegan for 35 years. I don't engage in social media, which I feel is harmful to society and unbecoming, and try hard not to let technology control my life: artificial intelligence is no match for seichel. I've brought Jewish medicine and the values it represents to the world via the eponymous website. In short, it's an altruistic calling. In that capacity, I also fill the urgent need for a source of evenhanded, authoritative information on vegetarian nutrition.
