I just don't see myself loving someone who doesn't care about killing / eating animals. For many of us, being a veggie is so much more than simply a diet.
I'm a former airline pilot changing careers (not by choice). My highly profitable airline was bought out, suddenly unexpectedly closed, the airline pilot retirement age was raised from 60 to 65 (no attrition for five years), and the economy was horrible. I sure miss flying the Boeing 727...the feeling of 48,000 pounds of thrust at my fingertips is difficult to duplicate! The beauty of the Earth from above is so breathtaking. A scratch in my eye from a brand new contact lens has cost me the career I so enjoyed. I went back to school and obtained my LPN, but have not used it yet due to a number of family tragedies. I had been taking care of my vegan Mom full time. Congestive heart failure is no fun. She fought a valiant battle, but is no longer with me. Now I am working on getting my house ready for sale to move into my parents (a few acres and a swimming pool).
I love music - tastes range from classical to oldies (Sinatra) to alternative, but I especially enjoy acoustic Latin / Mediterranean guitar. Hammocks - such a simple invention, but so relaxing! Canoeing, boating, bicycling, experiencing nature, tennis, or even throwing a Frisbee are all fun fair weather activities.
Based on my profile, you probably wouldn't guess I love to laugh, and joke around often. Sometimes my delivery is too dry for people to realize I'm joking...love watching the five second delay as someone gets it! I also enjoy a nice cuddle, going for walks, deep, and not so deep discussions.

If you're vegan, I'm interested, and I'm more interested the longer you've been vegan. That goes for friendship or romance, too.

Evidence-based vegan, progressively political, into lifestyle medicine, and frugal would be a perfect match.

Hobbies include daily exercise (with full body resistance training every other day), consuming content from NPR (especially via KQED Radio) and the PBS Newshour, and pursuing opportunities to help better myself or support the world around me :). Other than that, though, I'm very open to new experiences or activities, too.
Native English speaker and somewhat proficient in Spanish. I'm always up for learning more languages, especially if it helps me communicate with you or your loved ones better.
I was formerly pre-health (medical/dental) and then switched to project management because it has allowed me to continue working with and spending time with my family.
Twenty years from now, when those family opportunities are less prevalent, I'll probably look to go back to school (ideally to study something to help reduce animal and/or environmental exploitation, although hopefully humans are no longer doing that 20 years from now :p) or look into more lucrative professional options (and donate any earnings beyond what I would hope to remain a fairly frugal lifestyle to high-impact charities promoting animal welfare.)
Those plans are definitely flexible, however, especially if that flexibility would help me to better support the happiness of a wonderful vegan partner :)

Hi, I live a split life between Devon in the UK and West Cork in Ireland. Much has changed in my life in the past 5 years, and now I am looking forward to the age of retirement, in a country that has taken my money over the years and spent it elsewhere. So the coming “retirement” will be more of a reinvention as I move from the “Big City” to a more self sufficient lifestyle.
If you too are thinking of a plant-based life with less stress, communing with nature, and being more creative, we may have a connection and that would be great. Not talking off-grid, I have to have Internet and lights, just a much smaller community that still holds values I did 30-40 years ago.
So if you wanna chat and see where things go, the coffee/tea is on me.
Here is some things about me ... I dislike this part as is sounds like I'm boasting, and that is not normal for me. Here are some of the personal highlights of my 50 plus years off the top of my head, and things like education and employment are not in there ;)
- I have toured Europe, East and West, in the Early 80s in a punk band
- Have created sculptures and artwork that sold and is publicly displayed
- Worked as an assignment photographer for two newspapers and a news magazine
- Own my own record label, and have composed and recorded nine complete albums
- Along with friends, and supporters have started two totally different charities
- Built my own home from the ground up with my own hands
- Climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and slept with giraffes
- Cycled and walked across all of Europe
... and none of these, or any one thing in my past defines me, because I believe that every day is a new one that holds endless possibilities, fun and adventure. Most of all no one should ever be limited by anything. Given enough time, effort and determination human beings can do amazing things, all of us.

Well-rounded, eclectic and baggage-free describes me well. At any point I have several projects on the go requiring a wide range of skills and aptitudes. I was originally, and still am, qualified as an accountant although, apart from a pro-bono audit of a little Buddhist charity every year, I have not regularly done any accounting for quite some time.
The daily yoga and meditation I practise and everything else I do are spontaneously guided and effortless. Yoga has given me a strong and supple body with a spirit to match that belie my age.
Friends sometimes describe me as slightly eccentric which is taken as a compliment....but I'm not sure that's entirely correct. Certainly I'm healthily unpredictable, acutely intuitive, sometimes non-conformist in a conservative way and a little Machiavellian. On balance I'm probably intellectual with a dry philosophical sense of humour that is never at anyone else's expense. I can be chatty and cheerful while at other times intense and focused.
I prefer intimate one-on-one situations and steer clear of noisy places and crowds. Simple pursuits are more to my liking. I am dedicated to the people around me including allowing them space where space is needed.
I've described myself as a non-drinker as one alcoholic drink per month is about the limit of my enjoyment in that regard....call that what you will.
My style is relaxed and informal and my timeless spirit always shines through. Compliments from women about my eyes and my smile are not uncommon.

Living a principled life of meaning, purpose, simplicity, and growth is my goal. Originally from New Jersey, I went to college (Pomona) and beyond in southern California but have spent most of my adult life in southern Arizona. I find the Sonoran Desert to be magical, and I hike a lot, but you can see beauty in most places if your mind is open to it. The beauty of any place, though, derives mainly from the people who populate it. Character traits I value include "compassion and altruism, placidness, patience, and slowness to anger, and abundant loving-kindness and truthfulness" (Exodus 34:6), as well as reverence for all life. The latter includes wearing a mask, to protect both others and myself, during the pandemic! Practical examples of these traits include: being mindful of the needs of the disabled and the vulnerable; uplifting others and taking care not to hurt their feelings; and giving people the benefit of the doubt. I look for ways to help others, but, whatever I do, I try to avoid self-serving feelings like self-validation and pride.
With my scientific background, I'm mostly a left-brained person, but I try to exercise the right half as well, although I fall a little short of being a polymath. I appreciate the contribution of art to life and especially the creativity behind it, although I like to view it not just for its aesthetic beauty but also as an extension of the person behind it. My brain tai chi regimen consists of chess, Sudoku, and word games. I'm informed and guided in all aspects of living by Jewish ethical values and teachings, including that we can learn from everyone! I've been vegan for 35 years. I don't engage in social media, which I feel is harmful to society and unbecoming, and try hard not to let technology control my life: artificial intelligence is no match for seichel. I've brought Jewish medicine and the values it represents to the world via the eponymous website. In a nutshell, it's a calling marked by nullification of the ego and by serving. In that capacity, I also fill the urgent need for a source of evenhanded, authoritative information on vegetarian nutrition.
