At an occupational level, I am an undergraduate student who is at the beginning of their university journey. I am currently pursuing two academic programmes, which are Translation, on one hand, and East Asian Studies, on the other hand. Once I complete my bachelor's degree, I intend on becoming a translator who will be capable of coming up with top-quality French renditions of texts originally written in English, German, and Mandarin Chinese. Although I still have a long way to go to learn the two latter tongues, I am more than confident in my capacities to achieve these two linguistic goals.
At a personal level, I am an avid gamer, doubled with a reader. Even though my preference goes to fantasy universes, I do enjoy a steampunk world from time to time. When I am not exploring a virtual reality, I can be found cooking vegan meals, accoomplishing daily tasks, taking long walks in nature, or indulging a ride on my bicycle. As a child, walks in the park with my father lead me understand that animals aren't our playthings. From that, I decided that it was wrong to test on them, but somehow it didn't occur to me to also question eating them. But now I've been (mostly) vegan now for two decades. (I say "mostly" because I still will sometimes have cheese, such as when I'm at a restaurant without dairy-free alternatives.)
I'm fortunate that my career enables me to promote my values while using my sense of curiosity, my impulse for creativity, and my desire to socialize. Because of all that, I tend to be a pretty upbeat and positive person.
I like to explore and learn about new things (especially when they are a bit quirky), so I enjoy museums and architecture tours. But I also enjoy browsing book stores, thrift shops, flea markets -- and casual walks in forest preserves. (Bonus points if if a deer shows up!) For a more low-key form of downtime, I like conversations or snuggling on a couch to watch a movie or TV show. (Some favorite shows: The West Wing, The Newsroom, Downton Abbey, Great British Bake Off.)

I've had lots of unusual experiences throughout my life; but mostly internal. Am a very spiritual person, but not into any religious group. Have had visions. What is that? Well, who knows. But in the years following a vision, perception of reality is different. I am still in the afterglow of it. I don't do any special meditations. When i decide enter a trance, i just enter it. There is no special technique required. In Taiwan, the closest thing to this is Zen and Yoga.
Beyond this, i live in Taiwan and speak Mandarin fluently with a local accent. Have an MA from Stanford University in East Asian Studies. Do some psychology with people. Very academic in appearance, except when dancing in clubs and hiking.
I like to be openly flirtatious and talk on the street about things that people here don't usually talk about openly in Taiwan. A little bit autistic probably, gifted in the art of deep concentration but also hyper at the same time. I was retired, and unretired because I wanted the challenge, so I am back doing IT. I have done extensive travelling, and plan to do more. Wanting to do at least one trip to Antarctica and would love to share that experience. I am intellectually curious, with a scientific/mathematical brain. A lot of my preferred activities revolve around being outdoors, and include bushwalking, camping and kayaking. Not as hardcore as I was in my 20s, but a combination of better equipment being available and experience means I still enjoy going out.

My best instrument is the ukulele, because the sound makes me happy (which means I play it more) and because I always take one when travelling.
