Hello out there,
Aren't we all here looking for the same thing? A greater connection to other like minded people. I am an illustrator, designer, and painter. I work remotely in my studio. Since my work is quite solitary I'd love to connect with someone who loves nature and animals as much as I. Plus the added weird sense of humor would be great. "Weird" is such a broad description. Many types of weird. Maybe "complimentary" sense of humor is the word I am looking for.
My days are spent either in my studio or working on my house, talking on the phone to friends far away, or taking ChloeBear and Charlie my side kicks out to the off-leash park or hiking and exploring Oregon's breathtaking terrain - as much as possible by bike. Also love exploring cute little towns and seeking/checking out new Vegan restaurants that are popping up all over the Northwest, then enjoy the challenge of going home and recreating a vegan dish I just discovered. I do love to cook! It's definitely another creative outlet.
I really enjoy meeting people that like talking about things that really matter. Politics, the Earth, the insanity and beauty of humanity.
My music tastes all depends on my mood. At this moment I am listening to Nora Jones. She has such a beautiful soothing voice while working. It's Friday, so soothing is much needed.

Most of my time is focused on work and taking care of my adult daughters who are disabled. I am a pretty odd duck, I can be the sweetest person you have ever met, but I also have a lot of sass at times and prefer to spend time with those who match my energy and don't drain it. My theology is most aligned with Buddhism, although I identify as atheist. I have a strong need to learn new things and love having conversations about the metaphysical and unusual. I was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1978. It wasn’t easy on my mother. It took three doctors, one C-section and lots of morphine.
My ancestry dates back to the first European settlers in sixteenth-century Canada, carrying a blend of Irish, Scottish, Welsh, and French genes (with a little First Nation from my great grandmother). I was raised Catholic, disliked school, and have been writing speculative fiction since I was nine years old.
Graduating a year early from high school, I moved to a Hindu monastery in the mountains of Southern California where I studied Eastern philosophy, practised yoga meditation and was almost eaten alive by a mountain lion.
Three years later, I moved to Italy where I trained as a fine artist at an academy in Florence. Two years later, I found myself back in Canada, where I struggled as a portrait artist in downtown Toronto.
In 2001, I married, moved out of the big city into a small town, and began work as a freelance ghostwriter and copywriter; while penning short stories, collecting rejection slips from publishers and raising our son Jonah.
In 2018, I began writing my first full-length novel, an urban fantasy set in Stratford, Ontario; but when the lockdowns began in 2020, I put down that project to pen a short dystopian story about where I saw these so-called “public health” measures going. That short story grew into the full-length novel. I’m currently working on the sequel while living in Stratford Ontario, with my son Jonah My wife Nicole passed away on September 20, 2022.

Finding a vegetarian is very hard but extremely important to me. Not just because killing animals is wrong, but because it is alot of who I am. I am one of those wierdos who will order his shoes and belts online, who will buy only products not tested on animals, try to buy organic/eco friendly products etc., I also volunteer at an animal shelter, etc.
I also know I will have a hard time finding that vegetarian soulmate because I am also off the beaten path in other ways as well: I am an acupuncturist and herbalist, take lots of supplements, have lots of candles, burn essential oils, gave up my better paying job to be poor but actually love my profession, still go see live music often, would rather camp in the middle of no where than be in a 4 star hotel, would rather be in my canoe or kayak than on my skis, so far left I would not even call myself a Democrat, watch political shows since people's lives depend on it, go to protests, go to poetry readings, spiritual rather than religous, never raise my voice, yet I am still sarcastic and love playing practical jokes, like to communicate since it is the key to a successful relationship, have more female friends than males, like independent films rather than blockbusters, from the the big city life of the east coast but hope to one day live in a mountain town, would prefer a glass of wine than a coors lite, would rather cook something I have never cooked before to test it out, etc. etc. etc.
I am also a huge live music fan, I go see jambands and bluegrass mostly.

I have never been married - during my younger years I wanted to renounce "worldy life" and become a monastic yogini, meditating in a cave in remote ashram in India. But I ended up renouncing this fantasy of "mystical solitude". I am looking to find an activity partner and/or marriage partner to share my life with. I became vegetarian because of compassion for animals and I also wanted to achieve radical health through physically-active choices and plant-based diet.
