I believe in equality in relationships and like giving and sharing. I'm very romantic at times and feel skill in communication is a basic key for a happy, sustainable couple. I'm politically/eco minded and love being involved: volunteering, writing, peaceful assembling. I lived in Thailand for two years and can speak Thai, and found being outside the empire refreshing. Altogether, I was a monk for several years and try to keep up a practice of meditation and live a loving life. Traveling to meet other cultures and communing with nature are favorites. Working out in a gym, biking, hiking, giving/receiving massage, natural health therapies, a little yoga; for fun and to honor the temple. Anything positive that would strengthen the relationship with a loved one. I've an interest in alternative energy (I work for a solar power company) and alternative construction ( See pics of a small earthen dome I built based on Iranian architecture).
I feel most comfortable around fellow activists and other life-full folks. Never owned a TV. I love reading and talking about news, history, science, health, enlightenment, ecology, relationship, politics, activism, etc.; not just to talk but to learn and do. I play keyboards and write lyrics and poems on occasion. Some of my deepest experiences have come from listening to, and playing music. Favorites include jazz, Latin jazz, classical, funk, classic rock, folk, gospel, African, Middle Eastern, Laotian, and Cambodian.

Veggie since 1984, recent years vegan. I Love nature, I really do - not only nice views, or "fishing and hunting" as some claim. I shiver and agonize realizing all the pain, and unrighteousness committed against the living world, and against the vegetarian lifestyle. Malicious, insolent lies, false "scientific" research against vegetarians, and vegetarianism, especially it's more advanced types like vitarianism, veganism, fruitarianism etc. show us, that it's time to stand up and speak up for our rights. Not only ours, but also our "brothers in Darwin", and the rest of the Nature, that is being relentlessly tortured to death. As we see around, the politicians do almost nothing about solving those vital problems, and they quench any initiative to solve them, the "scientific" world works for the corrupted system, from one side proving our rights, and from the other side speaking against them, according to the salary. So we, veggies have to say something. We cannot say now, that "we didn't know about it" as people during WW2 might say about concentration camps. We know too much to keep silent. This is why I wish that connections between our people be established in order to support each-other, especially those who struggle with problems within the family and "friends", at work/school, in discussions about "our way", pointing to the real sources of today's problems, and giving the solutions...

Been around the block a bit, as they say, but still very fit & young-at-heart! Most people assume I'm 50ish! Retired now, but not ready for the "pipe & slippers" just yet! I was a professional salesman for most of my working life, combined with a semi-pro occupation as a drummer at weekends. More recently, I got into photography (properly) and did weddings & portraits mainly (work featured on ITV & some big-name Companies). Not "tall dark & handsome" (sorry!) but I make up for it by being happy, loving, attentive and spontaneous. I'm not a control freak, I'm easy-going and liberal-minded. I still enjoy going to live music gigs and concerts. Exploring new places. I support many animal welfare charities and am concerned about the environment too. Born in UK, and also holding an Irish passport, & had a lovely coastal house in Ireland. I'm back in the UK now catching up with friends and joining a band (or two) to resume my drumming.

Genuine, sincere, kind, loyal musician/educator. Animals are a big part of my life. And I would love to meet a man that also realizes that animals have a spirit and soul and they are worthy of respect. In the dead sea scrolls it is written that on judgement day animals will stand before God and bare witness against people who were cruel to them. One of my favorite things to do is be in water, in the ocean, a lake, river or creek. I have had the pleasure of living in situations where I could do that daily, I really wish this again in my life and sharing this is really fun too.
As a teenager I made it my intention to live a life in which I did not look forward to getting drunk on the weekend, I never want to wish any of my working days to hurry up and finish-that would be wishing part of my life away and I realised that long ago too. I think I have been very successful up to now in avoiding such ways by enjoying doing different types of work which i get paid and different types of work I don't get paid for-I don't have chores as i enjoy cleaning and getting food and other life activities, I enjoy a lot of things I do, seeing them as valuable in themselves as experiences. I have loved working with kids and wish to do this a lot more.
I love mending, making and repurposing things and practices of living simply. I have done some talks and a few articles on this subject. In many ways I live simply, this primarily being so others can simply live; and I earn less, buy less,trash less and because of this I think I have a beautiful life in many ways.
Recently I have started speaking in schools about animal rights.

I would say that I am pretty balanced and well rounded - I'm an academic (biology and anthropology) who can repair or build all kinds of things. I'm also an artist and traveler. I'm generally clean and organized but not OCD. I'm cultured but not a snob. I generally think outside the mainstream - good thing I don't mind being out of step with the crowd. I'm a lifelong vegetarian and have eaten a mostly plant-based diet for almost 40 years but don't call myself a vegan. I can enjoy a shot of wheatgrass juice or a single-malt scotch. My politics are pretty left - think Noam Chomsky. I am anti-war and don't want to be around racists, bible-thumpers, liars or other kinds of hateful thinking. I want to leave the world a better place as best I can.
I enjoy lots of different kinds of music but can't make any of my own (well I can drum I guess...). I love to get out in nature and hike and photograph. My latest adventures were the solar eclipse in 2017, a safari to Kenya in 2018, Iceland last winter and the southwest in the fall of 2019 - I'd be happy to find someone to join me for the next one!
