I went vegan on my birthday in 2016 after being vegetarian for about three years. I went vegan for the animals. I eat a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits, but I'm known to have a vegan donut here and there. I enjoy cooking, especially when there is time. Listening to music while filling the house with aromas of spices, sauteed onions and garlic, and laughing with loved ones is a great evening for me.
I have two great kiddos. My eighteen-year-old daughter is a senior in high school (she is going to the same high school I went to which is awesome). She is headed off to college August, 2023! My son is ten. He is my sweet and gentle boy. I have my son half of the time: 1week/1week. It is very energetic and noisy and then it is very quiet....and peaceful. I have learned to enjoy both.
I enjoy kayaking. It is so peaceful to paddle while watching birds fly and fish school. I play Texas Hold'em once or twice a week with my carnivore and vegan friends. I make it a point to volunteer. I'm involved in the Corpus Christi VegFest which I helped start in 2018 and the event is now held annually on the second Saturday of October. I love to read novels, especially fantasy. I usually have a couple of tv shows that I watch. Right now I am watching The Witcher, House of Dragons, Sweet Tooth, Rings of Power, Penny Worth, Wanda Vision, Loki, Hawkeye, Our Flag Means Death, Arcane: League of Legends, Umbrella Academy, Wednesday, Better Call Saul, The Last Ones, Modern Family (Reruns), Seinfeld (Again), Barry, and The Wheel of Time. I like to take weekend trips. I'm getting back into taking a trip every season after pausing for COVID pandemic. I throw in several out of state trips each year to explore new places. I just visited Eureka Springs, Arkansas with family and friends this November.
I am self-employed and own my own business. I love my work. I have had jobs that I did not care for, so I appreciate it. I am a general contractor for new residential homes, mostly on pilings. I draw my own floor plans and build from ground to finish. It is nice to see an idea come into reality.

I guess it is a universal truth that greater joy may be found in giving than receiving, perhaps even more so for an Irish man when it comes to personal compliments! If I were to dig deep into my archive, I might find words such as kind, thoughtful, affectionate, understanding, genuine, funny, and a real pet. The latter term, I prefer to reserve for my fur pal Oscar!
